SUPPORT THE MSS SPIRIT:
A Song of Love for Sichuan earthquake victims by Cecilia Lau MSS1980

Dear Maryknollers:

I am Cecilia Lau who graduated in 1980. Song writing has been my interest since I was a teenager. Some of my form mates might remember that I wrote a song in 1979 which won the championship of Inter-school Talent Quest that year. I enjoy writing songs because I believe music is the best language for us to express our feelings and touch people’s hearts.

“愛的力量”(“Power of Love”) is a Mandarin song which I composed one week after the Sichuan Earthquake. Mandarin is not my mother tongue and just like other Hongkongers, singing in Mandarin is really a challenge for me. Originally I just wished to express my feelings through the lyrics and music. However, with the encouragement and support from my friends, I decided to record the song and publish it at my own cost for fundraising purpose. I have already uploaded the song as a music video on “Youtube.com” with pictures drawn by my children to illustrate the lyrics. If you wish to view the video please search for “power of love Cecilia Lau”. Some people considered since the earthquake happened few months ago, people might have already lost their interest in helping the Sichuan victims. Well, I am not convinced that this is true and I wish to prove it otherwise.

“愛的力量”(“Power of Love”) is a single which consists of two songs, (1) singing version and (2) karaoke version. The CD costs HK$40 and if purchase with mail delivery in Hong Kong HK$45. For USA/Canada/Australia it will be (US/CAN/AUS) $7 each including packing and mailing cost.

To order by mail, please CLICK HERE to download the Order Form.

All proceeds, after deducting solely the production and printing cost of the CD but excluding recording cost will all be donated to Grace Charity Foundation Limited for the use of helping the Sichuan victims. Grace Charity is a non-profit making charity organization with all volunteer workers and no employee under payroll. This charity organization has been established over 10 years in Hong Kong. They have been continuously supporting the poor and the needy in the remote and poverty areas and conducting lots of charity work in China. Over 1000 primary and secondary schools have been successfully built by them in China.

For contact details of Grace Charity Foundation Limited, please DOWNLOAD the Order Form.

Last but not least, I hope bearing our traditional MSS spirits, we will all make a sustained effort to demonstrate “power of love” and continue to support and help our compatriots in Sichuan

Warmest love,
Cecilia Lau
