In Memory of Jennifer Yau Shaw

I was deeply saddened when Annie Yau Young emailed me about the passing of her sister Jennifer Yau Shaw. She came to the gathering at my home when Sister Rose Duchesne visited us last year. It was the first and last time I saw Jennifer, however she had made a very kind, loving and positive impression on me. A special remembrance will be devoted to her in our May 17, 2008 mass for the Maryknollers.

Jennifer Yau Shaw (MCS Class of ’55) passed away on April 10, 2008, in her home in Mill Valley, CA after almost three years of battling lung cancer. Jenny was born in Soochow, China in 1936 and moved to Hong Kong in 1949. She attended Maryknoll Convent School and was an “all round good student”. She left for college in the United States and graduated from Hunter college, NY. She returned to Hong Kong with her husband and taught Biology at MCS for two years in the mid-60’s. She returned to the U.S. and earned her Master degree at U. of Hawaii. Over the next two decades, she moved with her family to Taiwan, Singapore and Hong Kong while raising two children. Jenny settled in California with her family for their semi-retirement.

Jenny was a kind, generous, gracious, devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend to those who know her. She was survived by her mother, her husband, Bill, her two sons, daughter-in-law, two grandchildren; and her seven siblings.
